How To Unblock Websites Blacklisted by Google

When you are on the good side of Google, they are brilliant for generating business and letting you make money with ease. However, when you get on their bad side, things become much more difficult to agree with.

Google uses a system called “Safe Browsing” which enables their systems to check URLs versus the lists of websites that Google deems unsafe. Websites that contain malware, or are suspected of phishing, are blacklisted and users are either unable to visit the site or given a warning before opening the site.

Worse still, you will be excluded from the search engine rankings eventually and this can be devastating to your business. Sadly, the system does not always work and many people have had issues with Google blacklisting their websites. So how do you unblock websites that have been blacklisted?

Check Your Site

Unblock websites: Malware

You need to check your website, thoroughly, for any foul play. Somebody may have hacked your site and added malware. Make sure you check your site and if you have been hacked, contact your hosts and get some help restoring things if you need it. Next, secure your website by changing passwords and verify that the malicious code has been removed.

Malicious code has to be removed and you usually get two types of common malware attack – hidden iframes, or malicious scripts. These problems are easily fixed once you understand them further, but your support staff at your host should be able to help you out.

You need to basically re-optimize and protect your whole site again, if this happens. Make sure everything is checked and if you cannot find any problems, ask for support from your web designer or your support team – there could be something extremely intricate and more advanced.

Alert Google

Once this has been done, the best thing you can do is contact Google and alert them of what has happened. Login to your Google Webmaster service, and there should be a link within that says “Request a Review”.

Getting a review for your website through this method is the quickest way to come to a resolution. This is also the quickest way to get yourself put back onto the list. If you are denied access, then you need to contact Google directly and find out why this has happened, and what you need to correct to fix this.

Avoiding getting put on the blacklist of Google is fairly simple. Make sure your website is regularly backed up and is looked after, security wise. Having backups is important as the moment you notice things are wrong, you can upload your backups to save any problems.

Keeping on Google’s good side is very important as it is a key factor in the success of your website. Constant surveillance is important, but once you find the problem it is usually easily resolved. If you cannot unblock websites that have been blacklisted, then your best bet is to contact Google – they should have all the answers for you.
